14 Bible Verses on Fear and Anxiety

1. Isaiah 35:4 NLT

Say to those with fearful hearts,
“Be strong, and do not fear,
for your God is coming to destroy your enemies.
He is coming to save you.”

Stay strong, friend. The fears, anxieties, and worries that you carry may seem strong, but God is stronger! And He has given you His strength so that you may overcome this. He will save you.

2. Psalm 34:4 NLT

I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.
He freed me from all my fears.

There is hope! You can have freedom! We serve a God who not only hears our prayers but answers them!

3. Isaiah 41:10 NLT

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

You do not need to be afraid, fearful, worrisome, or anxious because God is with you through whatever you face today, tomorrow, and forever. He will never leave you. He is your Father, who genuinely cares about you. He will help you and strengthen you. He holds you. He will lift you up in victory. Trust Him with what you are facing today.

5. Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths

6. Jeremiah 17:7-8 NLT

“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat
or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green,
and they never stop producing fruit.

When you give your worries, fears, and anxieties to God, you are putting your trust in Him to fix it. You are putting your confidence and hope in God alone. Knowing and believing that He can be trusted. And the Bible says that when you place your trust in God that you will produce fruit and receive victory from those things that weigh you down. You will be rooted in His living water and always be producing much fruit.

7. Philippians 4:6-7 NLT

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Whatever is worrying you, whenever you feel fearful, when the anxiety comes, go to God in prayer. Talk to God about it. Paul tells us precisely what to do when we feel worrisome. Give God all your needs, desires, and anxieties, but then don’t just stop there. Give God praise for what He has done and will do. When we go to God in prayer, He is faithful to meet us there. When we go to God with our needs and a thankful heart, we can expect to receive peace in return. This peace is what we can live on, trusting that God will take good care of us and is a good, faithful Father.

8. John 14:27 NLT

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

Wow. These words came from the mouth of Jesus himself. He has left us with the gift of peace. This peace overrules any troubles or fears that we may face.

9. Psalm 23 NLT

The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.
Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.
You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord
forever.

This psalm speaks for itself. No matter what lows we face in life, God is with us, leading us and comforting us. He gives us peace, strength, comfort, love, protection, and so much more. We have nothing to be fearful of because God is all that we need at all times. All we truly need is to stay close to Jesus, and He will do the rest.
