Whether or not you grew up in the church, you might not realize how important being involved in a small group can be. Or maybe you’re a new Christian and don’t know what a small group even is. Or you’ve been a Christian for a while now and haven’t joined a small group yet. No matter which category you fall under, let me tell ya, joining a small group is incredibly vital for your Christian walk!
What is a small group?
A small group can be known as a lifegroup or a Bible study. Depending on the church you go to, it can be called different things but don’t let that confuse you. They all still do the same thing. A small group, lifegroup, Bible study, etc. all meet together weekly to grow in the Word together. Growing together in the Word can be done through reading through the actual Bible, going over a book study, doing questions and answers, through topics, conversation, etc.
Now that we know what a small group is, here are 3 reasons why you should join a small group:
1). Community
Being actively involved in a small group is the perfect way to get connected with other believers. I often hear from Christian girls that they wish they had other Christian friends. Well, a small group is where you can find them and meet new people! It is so so so important to be surrounded by others who believe what you believe and encourage you towards God.
2). Learn and grow in your faith
A small group is a perfect place to help you grow in your faith. You will learn not only through the Bible itself but through the conversation. Through the time of going to a small group, you will start to see how much you are growing in your faith and relationship with God through being challenged in your thinking and views of life. I can’t even begin to explain how much attending and participating in a small group will teach you and grow you towards God.

3). Opportunity to ask questions
I know what it’s like to try to read the Bible on your own, especially if you’re new to the Bible, and be so confused on what you’re reading or what you’ve just read means. A small group is a safe place to ask any questions you may have! Honestly, these questions and conversations are what make the lifegroup so engaging and fun.
I challenge you to find a small group in your church or community that you can join and be apart of weekly. I can honestly say that when I joined a small group, that’s where I grew a ton in my relationship with the Lord and where I met the most amazing people that I get to call my good friends.
