My Quiet Time With God Routine

COFFEE

First things first, I wake up in the morning and make myself a delicious cup of coffee. While I’m waiting for my coffee to brew, I gather my bible, prayer journal, devotional, and my pouch of colorful pens. Oh, and a blanket to snuggle up with! And now, my quiet time with God can begin.

space

My space where I meet with the Lord is at my kitchen table. I used to have my Jesus time at my desk when I lived with my mom before I was married. But now I really enjoy sitting criss-cross applesauce in a chair at the kitchen table. It’s my special spot, and it helps me to stay awake!

Once my coffee is made, and I have everything I need next to me then I take a seat and begin my quiet time with God!

prayer time

I typically start with my prayer journal and picking a colorful pen that sparks my eye. I enjoy having different color pens to choose from because it’s fun. I can keep my prayer journal colorful. It’s the little things!

I like to start writing in my prayer journal because I’m not all that talkative in the morning. It takes me a little bit to wake up and begin to talk. So for me, it works out that I can write out my prayers to the Lord in a prayer journal and still be talking with Him without using my voice! Plus I can keep track of my prayers.

time to read

Once I finish with my prayer time, I then read a page from whatever daily devotional I’m reading from. I have really enjoyed New Morning Mercies by Paul Tripp. Right now I am reading Unshakeable by Christine Caine, which has been really great as well.

Once I finish reading my devotional, I read my Bible. I like to go through 1 or 2 different books of the Bible at a time and study the Word that way. I usually read either a passage or chapter. It all depends on the time I set aside, how many different books of the Bible I’m reading and what I’m getting out of it. Or I may be going through a book study, and then I’ll focus solely on that book. I usually change up my routine quite a bit. Regardless, if the Lord is speaking to me about something, I usually tend to really take in what He’s saying and meditate and pray through what He’s teaching me.

ending

When I end my quiet time with God at home, and as I head out to work I either pray out loud in the car or I turn on some worship music and jam out. This is the time where I like to surrender my day to Him.

Now as the rest of the day goes on, I am in constant conversation with God and do my best, by His grace, to live for Him in a way that’s worthy of Him and giving glory to Him!

Here is the rundown of my quiet time routine. Every day looks a little different, but no matter what my morning looks like, I can count on Jesus meeting me there.

I hope that this glance into my quiet time with God routine encourages you to spend some time with Jesus yourself!
